Taoz Ceramic Studio Website Re-Design
Timeline: July 2023
Project: Individual, Personal
Responsibilities: Research, Branding, Prototyping
Overview
As part of my design exercise, I wanted to redesign a local business's website. This is a personal project for my own design practice.

I have gone to Taoz Ceramic Studio at Jurong East and upon looking at their website, I did not think their site reflects their studio and brand. There were also many things I wanted to improve on their current website. This fun short project will be an exercise focusing on redesigning their whole website.

Who am I targeting?
Potential customers
- Parents
- Young adults
What's the brand feel?
Serene and Inviting.

Their studio space gives a friendly and welcoming feeling. They achieve this by using neutral tones, wood accents, clean lines, and organic shapes. Using these visual design elements, I will apply them to the website UI design as well.
What's unique?
-
The instructors offer step-by-step guidance and the classes are beginner-friendly (they provide trial lessons).
-
Their studios are accessible (near MRT, town area).
-
They are passionate about the craft of ceramics.

Illustrations
To create a more personal touch to their website, since ceramic making is traditional and hand-crafted, I drew these illustrations for the section to emphasize what makes Taoz Ceramic Studio stand out.

Style Guide
Going for a clean minimalistic look, I chose neutral colors and two fonts for the website. The neutral colors also do not steal the attention of the pictures of the ceramics. The serif font is used for the main heading and sub-heading to give a more sophisticated look. The same goes for the sharp-cornered buttons and boxes.
